Julia Salinas is a Transportation Manager at the Los Angeles Mayor’s Office of City Services. Julia is a native of Los Angeles but spent the beginning of her career in the San Francisco Bay Area where a different governance structure is in place. Julia is one of six managers working on Active Transportation Planning for Metro and her responsibilities include outreach and education programs, developing a data collection program, serving as Bicycle Modal Lead for Metro’s bi-annual grant program for infrastructure implementation, Project Manager for the Los Angeles River Bike Path Gap Closure Project, and as the Project Manager for the technical integration of Metro Bike Share with Metro’s transit fare system. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering from the University of California Berkeley and worked as a civil and hydraulic engineer for several years before entering the field of planning. Julia holds a Master’s Degree from UCLA in Urban and Regional Planning focusing on Transportation Planning and Policy where she performed research transportation policy and sustainability, especially greenhouse gas life cycle analysis. Julia also holds an active license as a Professional Engineer in the State of California.
