Description

The last year has laid bare the glaring and problematic inequities throughout the world. This has forced a reckoning with the role transport and urban systems play in perpetuating racism, police violence, and structural inequality. Planning and transport are often thought of as technocratic, although they can be value-laden, activities that perpetuate and uphold racist systems. In this session, panelists will discuss the role of race and racism in how we design, build, implement, and enforce the space in our streets and cities. They will highlight the progress already being made and actionable next steps to dismantle barriers to future progress.
