To guide Indian cities to a green recovery from COVID-19 and create an ambitious vision for cycling, the Smart Cities Mission of the National Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs launched the India Cycles4Change Challenge. Over 100 participating cities will follow a TEST-LEARN-SCALE approach—to TEST through pilots, LEARN together with citizens and experts, and SCALE-up successful interventions to improve cycling across the city. As the knowledge partner for the Challenge, the ITDP India Program provides a capacity building program through a series of workshops and guidelines that includes conducting surveys, designing and implementing cycling infrastructure through participatory planning, and building support for cycling through public campaigns. This session will focus on the progress made by Indian cities through the Challenge and ITDP India’s diverse strategies and tools to partner and bolster progres across cities.
